The sketch with the green hatch

The recipe

Right before filling and crumb coat

Had to be big enough to feed 25

End result

Too plain without wording

Awesome fondant template
This cake was a lot of fun to make – a marble chocolate and vanilla to serve 25. It was due the same day as Flash McQueen so I completed them at the same time – which was a bit odd, but worked out nicely. You might notice that the green hatch is missing on the bed cover (the friend who ordered the cake from me certainly noticed this detail “as promised” was missing and therefore made the cake “much less colourful” on top of being “very very very” sweet.) Ah well, maybe the writing above the TWO rather than one teddy bear might make up for it – besides, as I explained, sweetly, had the hatch pattern worked out it would have made it on the cake, but if it doesn’t look good, I won’t keep something for the sake of matching a sketch.
Lesson Learned:
– I never learn. I guess taking a way a detail and working hard to think of extra things to add or replace on the cake to make up for it doesn’t sit well with people who are extreme black and white. So I won’t cash her cheque.
– Stop making cakes – really, I’m in a slump at the moment. I don’t charge enough, and when I do charge, I feel guilty or bad or wrong for not delivering something exactly as promised. Even if I think something is better than the plan – I guess this is how most artists feel when commissioned for work. Sigh!
